Food Diary Thursday 31st July 2008

Here's what I've eaten today, a red day:

Breakfast: 2 alpen light bars (heb1)
Lunch: salad, dressing (5), lime coriander chicken mini fillets (1.5)
Tea: gammon, roast veg, herbs, parsley sause (2)
Supper: cheese (hea1 &2) on toast (heb2) - planned

I'm turning into chinese food! Food diary Wednesday 30th July 2008

After Tuesday night's Chinese all you can eat buffet (which was lush) I could easily live without Chinese food for a little while. I wonder if everyone is like that? Every now and then I really fancy, say, a McDonalds, have one and really enjoy it. But then I can't face one for a few weeks/months!

So, yesterday's plan was as follows. It was going to be a mix to max day:

Breakfast: 2 alpen light bars (heb1)
Lunch: salad, dressing (5), lemon and herb cous cous
Tea: salad, dressing (5), croutons (5), coriander and lime chicken fillets
Snacks: muller light, fruit salad

But one my oldest friends (as in I've been friends with her since 1992, not that she's old, well she's the same age as me!) texted to ask if she could come over for a chinese. We keep arranging to meet and then other things get in the way. I really wanted to catch up with her so she came over for a chinese.

So here's the actual food diary for yesterday:

Breakfast: 2 alpen light bars (heb1)
Lunch: salad, dressing (5), lemon and herb cous cous
Tea: vegetable chow mein (5), prawn crackers (10)
Snacks: muller light, fruit salad

Not bad at all really, and the chinese was lush!

Oh no! Food diary Tuesday 29th July 2008

It was all going so well, I was even working from home and hadn't given in to any chocolate related temptations! Then the phone call came - "do you want to go to the chinese before we go to the cinema tonight?" I just couldn't say no, I mean, what would I do, sit in the car while the other 3 enjoyed a chinese all you can eat buffet?

So yesterday's red day plan, which was...

Breakfast - bacon, syn free sausages, beans (heb1)
Lunch - cheese (hea1 & 2) on toast (heb2), lea and perrins, strawberries
Tea - lime and coriander chicken mini fillets (1.5), salad with croutons and dressing (10.5)

Became this...

Breakfast - bacon, syn free sausages, beans (heb1)
Lunch - cheese (hea1 & 2) on toast (heb2), lea and perrins, strawberries
Tea - all you can eat chinese buffet, including prawn crackers, chow mein, lemon chicken (not in batter though), onion rings (in batter), crispy seaweed, crispy chilli chicken, ice cream, syrup, chocolate fountain (marshmallow, mango, melon), glass of merlot...

Oh well, never mind. That's what I thought until my best friend just texted me to ask if she could come round tonight for a chinese takeaway. Here we go again...!

Weigh In Friday 25th July 2008

Today is my second weigh in day since starting this blog. I haven't had the best of weeks as I've been on annual leave from work and also had toothache (had a root canal yesterday!). Here are the surprisingly good results:

Starting weight = 11 stone 13 pounds
Weight loss this week = 1.5 pounds
Weight loss in total so far = 5 pounds
Current weight = 11 stone 8 pounds
Goal weight = 10 stone 7 pounds

My BMI is now 24.6, my body fat is 29.7% and my hydration level is 51.3%.

Food Diary Friday 18th July 2008

Here's a list of what I ate yesterday, a green day:

Breakfast - Muller light, cup of tea (milk from HEA1)
Lunch - Tomato and herb mugshot, mango, muller light
Dinner - Garlic and chicken pasta and sauce (yuk!)
Snacks - fruit salad, pick n mix

The pick n mix was my treat as it was weigh in day (and I lost 2.5 lbs!). I'd also planned to eat a sticky toffee pudding as well, but was full after the pick n mix!

Not the best day but it could have been a lot worse... Now to stay on plan for the first full weekend ever!

What is Slimming World?

I've been thinking I should really explain what Slimming World is, and how it works, especially as this is a blog about my weight loss journey on Slimming World. To be honest Katyboo1 has explained it so well here on her blog, I don't need to. I've been following Slimming World for 8 weeks now and she has explained it in the most comprehensive and simple way I've seen.
Thanks for letting me link to your blog Katy!

Weigh In Friday 18th July 2008

Today is my first weigh in day since starting this blog and also since I got some new (accurate!) scales last week.

Here are the results:

Starting weight = 11 stone 13 pounds
Weightlossthis week = 2.5 pounds
Weightloss in total so far = 3.5 pounds
Current weight = 11 stone 9.5 pounds
Goal weight = 10 stone 7 pounds

My BMI is now 24.8 (so I'm under the 25 'healthy weight' threshold, just about),
my body fat is 30.1% (still a bit high I think)
and my hydration level is 51%.

My main concern is whether I will be able to stick to the plan over this weekend and next week. Weekends seem to be my downfall as I can stick to it all week, because a little voice is telling me "don't worry you can treat yourself at the weekend". That does actually keep me going some days! Also I'm off work next week and again the change in routine hasn't been good for my weight loss in the past - I'm hoping I'll not go too mad this time.

Food Diary Thursday 17th July 2008

I feel today's gone quite well. Went to Asda at lunchtime and was amazed at the massive variety of Slimming World frienly food that's available there as well as the brilliant value for money. Stocked up on pasta and sauces, mugshots and Ainsley's couscous anyway.

Today was a Mix 2 Max day, which means I can have a combination of red and green meals during the day, as long as each meal is either red, green or neutral. Here today's food diary:

Breakfast - 2 Alpen light bars (HEB1); cup of tea (milk from HEA1)
Lunch - Bacon, salad, dressing (3)
Tea - Quorn sausages, savoury rice, muller light
Supper - 2 slices wholemeal bread (HEB2), 28g cheese (HEA2), lea and perrins - aka cheese on toast! Rest of HEA1 milk
Snacks - cherries, grapes, orange juice with spatone (2.5)

That's it for today. Weigh in tomorrow so I'm drinking lots of water too!

Here are my syns for today:

My Slimming World Blog

This blog is going to be my diary as I follow the Slimming World plan to lose weight.

I currently weigh 11 stones 12 pounds (or I did last Friday anyway) and want to lose 1 stone 5 pounds so I weight 10 stones 7 pounds. As I'm 5 foot 8 tall but come from a long line of women with 'child-bearing' hips, I feel this is a realistic target weight for me.

I don't attend a Slimming World group, and instead use the Body Optimise website to follow the plan. The website is great but I really miss the 'social interaction' you got with the WeightWatchers forum on their website (yes, I've already lost 2 stones with WW and put it all back on!) But fear not, I've found a few brilliant forum websites to satisfy this need I have for cyber buddies, and it's an ideal way for questions I have, which would otherwise get answered at a group meeting, to be answered.

My favourite Slimming World forums are:

http://slimmingworldsupport.editboard.com/portal.htm
http://slimmingworldclub.niceboard.net/

I'm planning to use this blog as a diary where I can record what I eat, what I do and how I feel.
Please feel free to comment if you'd like to.
